The Southern Association for Canadian Studies (SACS) is a regional association dedicated to promoting opportunities for the study of Canada in southern universities and institutions, and among southern scholars, decision-makers and the general public. It is the only regional Canadian Studies association in the United States that is also an international association.
We are pleased to announce that SACS now publishes the Southern Journal of Canadian Studies . Not only does this provide you will a new source of information concerning Canadian issues, but also it offers a publishing venue for academic papers by southern Canadian Studies specialists. Membership in the association entitles you to a subscription to the Southern Journal of Canadian Studies , the only journal published by a regional Canadian Studies association. The inaugural issue contains articles on:
Historical Development of Canadian Borders
Historical Development of Canadian Cities
Whether Deeper Economic Integration Between the US and Canada is Inevitable or Desirable
Apprenticeship in Canada in a Comparative Context
Canadian Literature
First Nations Radio
Exports of Southern Crops to Canada
Linguistic Tensions in Canada
IT Infrastructure in Canada
We also offer biennial SACS
conferences, annual colloquium, biannual newsletters and briefings, regional representation at the biennial ACSUS conferences, as well as access to a network of Canadianists in the south. You will find that SACS provides its members with an important network and support system for all types of Canadian Studies in the south.
Annual membership in SACS costs $20 for university faculty, $10 for students and independent scholars, and $50 for institutions. If you are not a member of SACS, please consider joining.
