Message from the President
This has been a great year for SACS. The first issue of the Southern Journal of Canadian Studies, was published last fall, and plans are underway for a second regular edition plus a special volume on "Canadianizing the Curriculum" over the next few months. SACS also held a Canadian Studies workshop in Jamaica , in January of 2006, and has a brand-new look as this newsletter indicates. Don't forget to check out our new website at www.southerncanstudies.org . Caroline Collier from the Multimedia Technology Center, Georgia College and State University, and by Gerald Adkins, Chair of the Computer Science Department at GCSU, have taken responsibility for the redesigning and maintenance of our electronic communications and will continue to do so in the foreseeable future.

Our new website will keep you posted about the upcoming Biennial SACS Conference in the fall of 2006. We plan to return to the Atlanta vicinity, and will be meeting in the Wyndham Vinings Hotel, October 5-7, 2006 . The Wyndham Vinings is only a short drive from the downtown, and conference rates have been negotiated (see the registration and information form in this newsletter). Be sure and submit an abstract for a paper, or simply join us for some exciting presentations, discussions and social events. For further information about the program email Jack Ferstel ( jferstel@yahoo.com ).

The 2006 meetings are particularly important to the SACS membership since we will be electing a new slate of Executive officers. Information concerning the elections and nomination process will be forthcoming over the summer months. I have truly enjoyed working with all of you over the past few years, and plan to remain very active in the association as my term draws to a close in October of this year. Zagros Madjd-Sadjadi will assume the role of President at the conclusion of our October meetings. Hope to see all of you there!
